This series of works was created using the technique of scannograms. All images were obtained by using a regular scanner. What served as the impetus for its creation? Human beings have ceased to be the subject of life. Now, we are only its objects.
In today’s world, society is increasingly attempting to restrict people’s freedom of movement, creating various difficulties. Nowadays, it seems impossible to simply enter an airport, board a plane, and fly away without undergoing the humiliating procedures of checking and scanning for explosive or hazardous substances. Additionally, there is a major issue with simple items like a bottle of water, which is confiscated at customs. This creates a problem for those who need to take medication or quench their thirst, forcing them to buy items at inflated prices from airport shops. It is a sad situation indeed.
Furthermore, we are now subjected to fingerprinting and retina scans for visas and passports, giving away personal information to the government, which seeks to control the movement of the population. Even in shops, we are checked by security guards to prevent theft, which often feels like being observed like a lab rat. We are scanned like a loaf of bread at a cash register, turning us into objects of observation rather than subjects. Unfortunately, society accepts this scenario meekly.
In my series of pictures, I want to draw special attention to this fact and show people as they are seen through scanners. Using this technique, the pictures emphasize the similarity between people and products with barcodes. Everywhere we look, we see people with barcodes, waiting to be purchased, scanned, used, and ultimately discarded like a bottle of Coke.
